JTS trains tomorrows religious, educational, and lay leaders for the Jewish community and beyond.Mid-Atlantic Assistant Regional Director. This position reports locally to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, and nationally to the Senior Director of Regional Development. The office for this position is located at the Pavilion, 261 Old York Road, Suite 617, Jenkintown, PA 19046, and is supported by two administrative assistants. The region encompasses includes Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Greater Washington DC area, Virginia and North Carolina. As part of the larger department of Institutional Advancement at JTS, this position is part of an over-all development staff of 45 individuals (including communications, computer ops, research and marketing). This position is jointly responsible for the annual campaign of approximately $2 million and includes fundraising activities large and small, directing and working with volunteer and lay leadership. The Mid-Atlantic campaign is part of a larger national campaign of approximately $30 million. The Mid-Atlantic Assistant Director is part of a fourteen member team of regional directors and assistant directors that span the country. The successful candidate must be a proven generalist in fund raising with a track record of having successfully participated in a broad-based development program including individual, corporate and foundation giving, special events, educational program development and direct mail. Particularly, experience in the cultivation and solicitation of foundation grants and creating large and medium-size special events is key, as is experience with developing and managing an individual major gift program. Experience in fund development may have been gained in any type of not-for-profit organization. The Assistant Director must be strategically-oriented and sufficiently seasoned to hit the deck running. He/she must possess a high energy level and be proactive, creative, self-directed and results-oriented. The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills (both oral and written), management, planning and organizational skills and have the personal style to work collegially with highly experienced and enthusiastic colleagues and staff. Strong computer skills are required. Knowledge of the Philadelphia philanthropic community is not required but preferred. It is essential that this individual possess the style, stature, diplomatic and interpersonal skills to relate well to and work effectively with the Board, staff, donors, volunteers, and friends of JTS. Fire-in-the-belly is a must.The Mid-Atlantic Assistant Regional Director is responsible for strengthening the commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers and donors by helping them understand the importance of their fundraising efforts on behalf of JTS, while simultaneously being sensitive to the many challenges of working with smaller Jewish communities.Compensation. Compensation commensurate with experience, plus generous benefit package including health, vacation and 401(k).Requirements:Required Education and Experience. A college degree and a minimum of 3 years experience working in a customer service capacity with donors.
